Welcome & Labas! Since early childhood, faces have been my obsession. I drew them, I painted them, I imagined them... Faces became fixated in my memory and like dear old friends, I fondly recall and cherish each of their unique differences. Laughlines around the eyes, protruding cheekbones or an intent gaze fixated on the horizon. And the joy! The kind of joy that begins somewhere deep in your belly, first showing up to the world in the corners of your lips which curl ever so slightly and in their final act, open widely in a roar of laughter and freedom - claiming your sacred self and space!
This is my passion...to capture those beautiful details, forms and emotions in portrait sculpture. To immortalise a moment so unique and special that you are afraid to blink in fear you'll miss any of it. Your beautiful details, your sacred self, a moment from your journey through life.
My own sculpture journey started during the long, scorching summers in Lithuania roaming the countryside with my sister, brother and cousins, where we wondered in meadows, woods and villages of my grandparents looking for anything to capture our joy. It was during one of these excursions that I found some clay and began to sculpt an arm. I can still remember the excitement of that day, the abrupt end to my project due to sudden rain and the fright of my mother on discovering the "arm" when she feared I had found an actual body part. I remember being quite proud of her reaction to my work!
After studying fine arts at the Vilnius Art Academy, my emphasis was on fashion design. Years of studying the human shape and the history of art and fashion gave me the understanding of what I believe people are really seeking - to be cherished and celebrated!
In 2005, my journey led me to Ireland, where the country and the people quickly wrapped my heart in clover. It's here that I discovered myself, perfected my craft of fashion and interior design. In Dublin, of all places, I embraced the art of Argentine Tango dancing, meeting people from all walks of life. One of these amazing people was sculptor Robin Buick, who recognized my dream to become a professional portrait sculptor and invited me into his studio to hone my craft. He showed me the true secrets of portrait sculpture, helping to build the foundation of my new career.
My work is inspired by the nuances of life. I love nothing more than to hear your stories, stories that make you who you are, stories that make you proud, make you vulnerable, capture stories that have created the laugh-lines of your character.
I've worked with many wonderful people and have enjoyed giving greater light to their journeys. I invite you to share your story with me, together we'll create a beautiful moment of you, captured forever.
Join me on a journey to witness your authentic self!
